Please pray for me?

When we came home with Michael I was the most happy and grateful woman in the world. The C section had gone better than I expected, I was healing very well, I had lots of help and Michael seemed like a sleepy baby.
Ten days later, Michael has two modes: sleeping and screaming while trying to either pass gas or pooping. I've tried the gas drops, we've done gripe water...
In ten more days, my mother is going home. Joseph who at first adored his brother is getting crazy of the crying and all wound up and I am even more so. Please, if you could storm the heavens with prayers that this will pass before my mom goes home, I would be so grateful.

Ohhhhh.....this sounds so familiar!!

I prayed.

My SIL's babies all had constipation troubles. My babies had gas troubles. Gripe water helped, but I cut out ALL dairy from my diet while breast feeding and then after a while slowly reintroduced it. Infant massage helped my daughter but my son hated it. Bicycling the legs gently helped. My husband's horse trainer friend is an expert at getting every bubble out of baby. He would bounce and pat the newborn for half an hour or more until every last burp and fart was removed.

I had a very strong let-down that would choke both babies, causing them to suck in more air. Perhaps stimulate your own breasts or remove baby just as let-down starts until the flow settles. (Keep burp cloths or towels handy.)

Rubbing the tummy in a circular motion while baby is upright can help move gas through and out of the tummy.

Check out Bulk Herb Store...they might have an infant-safe product for babies that can help. I think they have an infant tea or something.

As always, call the pediatrician.
